Conectado à caixa de controle em linha MAS 133, ele pode controlar qualquer microfone XLR conectado por meio de modos de ativação de microfone programáveis (PTT, PTM, alternar entre on/off, permanentemente ligado). Para facilitar a operação, o MAS 1 vem com um indicador de status bicolor.
