Nanyang Technological University

The client

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) evolved from a teaching institution into a globally renowned research-intensive university, merging with the National Institute of Education in 1991 and attaining autonomy in 2006, subsequently becoming one of Singapore's largest public universities.

The solution

NTU Singapore’s Gaia building implemented Sennheiser's TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC 2) microphone to enhance the user experience in its auditorium, aiming to improve interaction between onsite and online participants. Nanyang Business School, situated within the Gaia building, sought to adapt to post-COVID-19 needs by transforming its teaching methods into a hybrid format, prompting NTU facilities manager Joe Chan to lead the upgrade of teaching technologies with hybrid AV systems. Through meticulous planning, Sennheiser's TCC 2 microphones were installed, facilitating seamless communication between instructors and students both onsite and off-campus. With the TCC 2 networked within a Q-SYS ecosystem, the ceiling microphones containing 28 electret condenser capsules each were strategically placed to ensure optimal audio quality and coverage throughout the auditorium, complemented by Panasonic's auto-tracking software for dynamic visual engagement. The TCC 2’s advanced features, including TruVoicelift and advanced dynamic beamforming technology, enhance speech clarity and audience engagement. AV Media, the integrator for this project, emphasized the system's user-friendly nature, freeing instructors from handheld microphones and enabling a 360° listening experience for students.
